Bob Frank brings more than 25 years of EMS experience working within the EMS community as a paramedic. He has spent the last 13 years as a SWAT Paramedic for the University of Michigan hospital system. Bob is also a volunteer for his local fire department providing care and transport of sick and injured patients. He enjoys teaching and challenging students to reach their potential in whatever career they choose.
Emergency Medical Technician
The Bureau of Labor Statistics expect the employment of Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics to grow by 23% from 2012-2022, much faster than the average for all occupations. People’s lives often depend on their quick reaction and competent care. People who work as EMTs often go on to further education and other medical careers.
Program Description
Students in this program will learn to work as members of pre-hospital emergency medical care teams administering emergency care to sick and injured while transporting them to the appropriate facility. Basic anatomy and physiology terminology is part of the curriculum as well as practical, hands-on demonstrations. Students in this program have been highly successful at Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) competitions, frequently qualifying for state and international competitions.
To Be Successful
Successful students in this program need a 2.5 GPA and have access to the internet. Strong reading, science, and computer skills are helpful, as is the ability to prioritize and show compassion for others. Students are required to pass a physical, TB test, criminal background check, and must be current with Hepatitis B, Tetanus, MMR, Varicella, and seasonal flu vaccines before going on clinical experiences.

Allison Norman is a TECH Center alumni. She spent four years working with students at Adrian Public Schools before coming to the LISD. Allison currently holds a National Registry EMT license and works as a paid on-call EMT for the Riga Township Fire Department. She is enrolled in the Lenawee County Fire Fighter School with a graduation date of May 2023.
